World Psoriasis Day 2025 – More than just skin

29 October is World Psoriasis Day – a day that puts the spotlight on millions of people with psoriasis worldwide. This chronic inflammatory disease, also known as psoriasis, not only affects the skin, but can also impact the entire body – from the joints and cardiovascular system to the psyche.

Psoriasis: A systemic challenge

Psoriasis is not merely a skin disease. The malfunctioning of the immune system leads to excessive skin cell production, which manifests itself in red, scaly patches. But the inflammatory processes often have a deeper effect: psoriatic arthritis, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and depression occur significantly more frequently in those impacted. This year's campaign is themed ‘Psoriasis and Comorbidities’, chosen by the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA). The aim is to highlight the connections and give encouragement to those affected.

Focus on quality of life

Many people with psoriasis experience their condition as a severe limitation on their quality of life. Studies show that the psychological stress is comparable to that experienced by heart attack patients. That is why holistic care is essential – medical, psychological and social.

World Psoriasis Day 2025 makes it clear: psoriasis is more than just skin. It requires modern therapies, interdisciplinary care and, above all, an understanding of the complexity of the disease. At medermis, we accompany you on your journey – with expertise, empathy, and commitment.
